Spring Break in London

During my study abroad semester in Florence, I had a week-long spring break that I spent in London and in parts of Ireland. The trip began with a flight, train, and Tube ride to the hostel. The Tube was incredibly easy to navigate and it quickly became one of my favorite things about London.

I stayed at the St. Christopher’s Inn The Village Hostel and I would recommend it to anyone staying in London! Here’s a picture of the private 2 person room I stayed in:

I arrived in London in the evening, so the first stop was to get fish & chips – yum! Afterwards, my friend & I walked around the city which was all lit up at night. We walked along the London Bridge and saw the beautiful Tower Bridge from afar.

On our next full day in London we explored the nearby markets. We walked through all of the little shops and cafés. I have a YouTube video with some great shots of the markets which will be posted below.

After seeing what the markets had to offer, we aimlessly walked around the city, across the Tower Bridge, and saw the Shakespeare Globe. The second half of our day was spent at the Warner Bros. Studio where we went on the “Making of Harry Potter” tour. Oh. My. Gosh. Every Harry Potter fan needs to put this place on their bucket list. I walked through Diagon Alley, drank some Butterbeer, and went on the Hogwarts Express.

The next day we went shopping on Oxford Street. I picked up some cool clothing items from Zara, Victoria’s Secret, and Urban Outfitters. After shopping we walked around Hyde Park and then went to Bennihanna for dinner. After living in Italy for two months we were really craving some hibachi food.

Afterwards, we spent the night in Piccadilly Circus which reminded me a lot of Times Square in New York. We watched street performers and it was a really cool place to be- I definitely recommend it!

During our last day in London we did all of the really touristy things. We went on a FREE tour (Sandemans Tours – look it up!) and saw all of the historical sights. Our tour guide was very intelligent and had a lot of information to share with us. After the tour we went to the Camden Market and I wish I could’ve spent more time there. It’s a very interesting and alternative place to explore. I got some really cool bracelets and tried some mini Dutch pancakes with Nutella and strawberries (they were ~heavenly~).

That night we went to The Shard and saw the absolute best view of the whole city. It is the tallest building in Western Europe.

London was incredible and I want to go back as soon as possible. Here’s a YouTube video of my adventures:
